A lesser travelled location at the bottom of the world, South Africa offers breath taking scenery and adventures galore!

Jozini Tiger Lodge
My first few days in South Africa were spent at Jozini Tiger Lodge, a beautiful hotel and spa set within the Pongolapoort nature reserve. A few days of rest and relaxation after a long flight in were in order, and there was no better place for it. An infinity pool looking out over the reservoir meant that you could be lying in the pool while watching various wildlife coming to the waters edge. The staff were fantastic, and provided us with kayaks so that we could spend a day exploring the entire reserve, before returning for a fantastic braii and some rather questionable dancing.

Oribi Gorge
The highlight of my trip would have to be my day spent at Oribi Gorge, who offer a number of adrenaline-fuelled adventures. Their wild swing which sees you jump off a 200m high waterfall and swing through a gorge is one of the highlights of my life, and was the most exciting thing I’ve done since my last skydive. The white water rafting expeditions they offer are also not to be missed out on, as they take you on some incredibly fun routes through some proper white water.

Wild Coast Waterpark
The park has a number of huge water slides, including a brilliant drop slide. You step inside a capsule, and on the count of three, the floor drops from beneath you, allowing you to plummet down and around the loop of the slide.

Croc World
Meet Henry, the worlds oldest captive crocodile. I got to watch the feeding of 30 or so crocs, which makes you realise how powerful their bite is! I was also shown a few local species of snake, and saw a variety of exotic birds including a Toucan and a Blue Crane. Just before lunch, I was lucky enough to be able to hold baby crocodiles, which was truly a new experience!
